Overview
About this service
An ingrown toenail happens when the edge of the nail grows into the surrounding skin, most often on the big toe, causing pain, redness, swelling and sometimes infection. If it's persistent, painful or keeps becoming infected despite conservative treatment, we can remove the affected part of the nail under local anaesthetic. Where needed, a chemical such as phenol is applied to the nail root to help stop that section growing back. You'll be given a dressing and clear aftercare instructions to support healing afterwards.
- Local anaesthetic, minor in-clinic procedure
- Removes only the affected part of the nail
- Nail-root treatment to reduce recurrence
- Dressing and aftercare guidance provided
